Frame Stacking

Jan 7, 2013 My first attempts at frame stacking. I used Registax 6 with this video guide for the frame stacking. It was a 10 second shaky video with my phone. I also got my Nexstar 8SE hooked up to my laptop and got to use Stellarium to navigate the cosmos for the first time. A lot of firsts this night. I used my new power tank, Telrad finder scope, and my new Pentax XF 8.5mm EP (which is what I used for Jupiter).

Jupiter's Bands

Oct 25, 2012 I had a little more time last night to observe and snap a picture of Jupiter's bands with some help from Rachel. It was taken with a Galaxy S3, no mount. The bands are perfectly visible through the telescope, but just barely visible through the camera. No post-processing was done.

Jupiter

Oct 11, 2012 First clear night in a while, got to see Jupiter for the first time though *my* telescope. The moons from left to right are Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. I will be able to see the bands and maybe the red spot closer to opposition on December 23. While I was waiting for Jupiter to rise over the tree tops I spotted the Pleiades cluster by accident. I saw a fuzzy patch in the sky so I decided to point my telescope at it and bam! Subaru.
